Exchange rate

From 1 January 2015, litas was exchanged to euro free of charge at the rate of LTL 3.45280 for EUR 1.

On 23 July 2014, this irrevocably fixed conversion rate of litas to euro was approved by the EU Council by adopting the final decision regarding Lithuania’s participation in the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) from 1 January 2015. From this date Lithuania will become the nineteenth full-fledged member of the eurozone, where the euro, the common currency of the European Union, is used. Besides, the exchange rate of the litas against the euro is the same as the Bank of Lithuania fixed on 2 February 2002, when the litas was pegged to the euro.
